A Colorful Summer Wedding at The Grand Lady

Bride and groom cheering after getting married at The Grand Lady

K + C’s summer wedding at The Grand Lady was a beautiful example of how you can mix classic elements with color for the most stunning wedding!

The Grand Lady is one of my favorite Austin wedding venues and was the perfect backdrop for their vibrant wedding day. K + C transformed The Grand Lady’s mansion venue, utilizing bold design choices made possible by Grand Lady Floral. They managed to maintain that timeless elegance with elements such as parasols mixed with the most colorful ceremony flowers.

Don’t Be Afraid of Color

As a photographer who edits in a true to color style, the colors that K + C chose for their wedding day took my breath away! They chose a gorgeous palette of purple, pink, orange, and green that could have easily felt overwhelming in the wrong hands. Instead, they created a fun atmosphere that perfectly represented their personal style. What I love about my couples getting married at The Grand Lady is that they have the option to select the on-site florist, Grand Lady Floral, to design their flowers. A lot of the flowers they use come straight from their own gardens. Working with The Grand Lady Floral, K + C chose arrangements that felt funky and unexpected while still being absolutely beautiful.

My Austin wedding couples are never afraid to step away from traditional color palettes and choose what actually speaks to them! The vibrant colors were the perfect juxtaposition against the classic architecture of The Grand Lady. This is what happens when couples trust that their vendors understand their vision! The Grand Lady’s natural beauty provided the perfect canvas for these bold floral statements to really shine.

The Sweetest Private Moment

One of my favorite captures from this day was when K + C took a quiet moment together in the groom’s suite to read their vows privately before the ceremony. I think it’s so important for couples to carve out time for them to have a moment alone together on their wedding day, where it’s not about the photos (though they’re always gorgeous!), It’s about creating time for real connection before you’re surrounded by all your favorite people. Any time my wedding couples do have this moment together, they are so appreciative.

Why The Grand Lady Works for Austin Weddings

What makes The Grand Lady such a perfect venue for couples is the fact that The Grand Lady team makes it easy to be both bold and elegant when it comes to your wedding design. You can make creative choices that feel completely you while still having that timeless backdrop that ensures your photos will feel classic for decades to come. The Grand Lady is perfect for couples who want to focus on being a part of their celebration rather than stressing about perfection.

Capturing Wedding Photos That Feel Like You

The combination of K + C’s fun color choices, unique florals, and candid moments made this such a fun gallery for me to deliver, especially since it perfectly captured who they are as a couple. One of the reasons I love photographing weddings is when couples make choices that really showcase who they are as a couple. The photos become more meaningful when people can look back at them and see themselves, rather than seeing what they were pressured to do on their wedding day.

Planning Your Own Wedding at The Grand Lady

If you’re planning a wedding at The Grand Lady and looking for a photographer who will capture not just how your day looked, but how it felt, I’d love to connect! It is the perfect Austin venue for couples who want classic architecture, a garden, as well as a modern indoor reception space. Planning your own colorful celebration at The Grand Lady? I’d love to hear about your vision and talk about how I can help capture it.
